Application interface

"Open BIM Office Furniture" contains a catalogue with numerous furniture combinations for office building rooms: tables, worktops, counters, chairs sofas, shelves, storage, refrigerators, microwaves, televisions and computers.

 

Catalogue elements

 

 

The program has a simple interface for users to be able to introduce the elements of the catalogue. Once users select the type of furniture that is to be introduced, a dialogue box appears showing all the combinations that are allowed for that element.

 

 

Depending on each element, different properties can be chosen (models, colours and sizes...). Once the available options have been selected, the element is placed in the 2D view of the floor that is displayed.

Configure shelves and worktops

 

 

 

"Open BIM Office Furniture" allows users to configure shelves and worktops. Users can define their width, height, depth, colour, number of shelves, number of legs...

 

Open BIM workflow

"Open BIM Office Furniture" is integrated into the Open BIM workflow via the BIMserver.center platform. The program currently exchanges the following information with the linked BIM project:

  • All the 3D models
    "Open BIM Office Furniture" displays the 3D view of all the models that are imported during the connection to or update of the BIM model.
  
  
  • Spaces
    As well as displaying the 3D view of the architectural model of the building, "Open BIM Office Furniture" obtains the defined floor and space distributions, which are then displayed in the 2D views of each floor.


• Exports
  "Open BIM Office Furniture" exports a file in IFC format that contains:
  
  
  • The 3D model of the furniture layout proposal (GLTF)
    The program provides the linked BIM model with the 3D representation of the furniture arrangement proposal so that it is visible in all the 3D views of the applications that are connected to the BIM model of the project.
    
    The presence of the furniture in the 3D model of the building makes the project more attractive to the final client.
  
  
  • Requirements
    "Open BIM Office Furniture" emits requirements to "CYPELEC Electrical Mechanisms" so users of this program place sockets in the vicinity of the appliances.
